How is Pricing a House Like Fishing?

May 23, 2018 by Nikki Buckelew Leave a Comment

help moving elderly parents

Pricing a house is much like fishing – and the house is the bait. You not only need the right kind of bait (location, condition, size, etc.) for the fish (buyer) you are looking to catch, you also must place it in the right fishing hole (price point) in the pond or lake (market). If […]

Aging in the Right Place is all about Choice

September 26, 2017 by Nikki Buckelew Leave a Comment

As a downsizing coach, I have the privilege of walking alongside individuals, couples, and families throughout the relocation process. I often ‘geek out’ reading the hundreds of studies and articles dedicated to the topic of late-life moves and what makes them successful or stressful. And as a veteran real estate broker, I frequently witness both […]

When we meet with people across OKC who are ready to sell their home the first topic of conversation is typically: Pricing the house for sale…how much? Watch Out for Carpetbaggers Wanting to Buy Your Home

July 13, 2016 by Nikki Buckelew Leave a Comment

I recently had a conversation with a friend and real estate colleague who mentioned that their real estate team was calling around neighborhoods and offering to purchase homes. Their approach is to make an “as-is” cash offer at a fair price with a fast or flexible closing date. I have also had people show me […]

Happy Interdependence Day

No. I didn’t misspell the title of the post. But thank you for noticing. In fact, now that you’re here, go ahead and scan the rest of it and see if you can find anything else that causes you to do a double-take! The word “independence” has been on my mind a lot lately. The seed […]

Educators, Advocates, then Real Estate Agents – In That Order

September 21, 2015 by Nikki Buckelew Leave a Comment

Someone recently told me they thought I had “overstepped my bounds” as a real estate agent because I asked a client if she had considered a retirement community that offered more services than the one she was presently considering. Naturally, my feathers were a bit ruffled because anyone who knows me or Chris knows that […]

Create Your NEW Normal

August 18, 2015 by Nikki Buckelew 1 Comment

“That’s normal. It’s just a part of the aging process.”   I literally want to scream when I hear that phrase — especially when it is uttered by a doctor, psychologist, or other healthcare professional. Someone once said to me that normal is “a cycle on a washing machine and nothing more!” I love this […]

Incredible compassion and connection
October 4, 2017

My overall experience was amazing and I appreciated that each individual we had contact with within the team cared about people more than just wanting to get the job done. Downsizing support
August 8, 2016

The hardest part of the move for me was the downsizing -- the easiest part was the move itself. When friends or family would ask if I needed help, my reply was that Nikki and Chris had it covered. No one, especially friends who had moved recently, could believe how non-stressed I was and how smooth the move went. My move manager was there the last two days to make sure all would go smoothly on moving day. Continue Reading

I want to thank you for the incredibly caring way you do business. You and your staff allowed me and my sister to go back to our homes secure in the knowledge that Mom was in the best hands...and with people who were looking out for her best interest, comfort and security. You should be proud of the service you perform. We certainly are! Thank you again, in advance, for easing Mom's transition. Continue Reading

Elders sometimes need a little help
October 4, 2017

They helped in preparing the house to be sold: sale, closing etc in 90 days. Elder people sometimes need help. Years between moves, you don’t know who to call and then have to set appointments etc. It gets very stressful. They took care of all that.
